Senator requires felony investigation into Twitter over Iran sanctions

Sen. Tex Cruz on Friday despatched a letter to Lawyer Basic William Barr and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin calling for a felony investigation into Twitter. Cruz alleges that the social media platform is “willfully violating American sanctions on Iran” by permitting Iranian leaders to keep up accounts on Twitter.

In February, Cruz and different senators despatched a letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey asking him to cease offering social media providers to Supreme Chief of Iran Ali Khamenei and Iranian International Minister Javad Zarif. The senators alleged that permitting the Iranian leaders to carry Twitter accounts violated sanctions prohibiting American corporations from offering items and providers to Khamenei and his workplace.
